Copyediting and Proofreading for Catholic Publishers

As a practicing Catholic (and catechist), I feel blessed to be able to use my knowledge and love of all things Catholic, along with my editing skills, to help Catholic publishers produce texts that spread the faith.

I know my way around the Bible (whichever translation you use) and the Catechism, and I have systems to keep track of all the different capitalization preferences within the Catholic world. (he? Him? Heaven? heaven? Yes, my head does sometimes hurt from remembering who uses what!)

My core proofreading and copyediting training has been from the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and the Publishing Training Centre (PTC), training providers highly regarded by the publishing industry. In addition to my core editorial training, I continue to take courses in many areas of editing to enhance my skills.

Your style, not mine.

My corrections will be consistent with your house style guide or the published style guide you use (e.g., AP, Chicago Manual of Style, New Hart’s Rules).

Training and standards are important.

I have met the training and experience requirements for professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, and I adhere to their Code of Practice. I am also a member of ACES: The Society for Editing. As a member of both of these organizations, I have access to excellent resources to improve my skills continually and stay informed of industry trends and standards.

Krista has been an amazing resource and asset to our editorial team. She has not only helped with proofreading many of our parish programs, but she has also stepped in as a copyeditor for one of our Catholic faith-based curriculums that is meant for both the parish and school setting.
